Draconids meteor shower

The Draconids meteor shower occurs every year in early October.  It will peak this year between October 7-8 when the Earth passes through the debris left from the comet 21p/Giacobini-Zinner.

In 1933 and in 1946, this meteor shower produced 200-1000 mph (meteors per hour). While this shower is usually much quieter, it peaks during evening hours (rather than early morning hours unlike other meteor showers) so it's more accessible.

Everyone try and catch this!  (pity about the horribly bright Singapore city lights though, making our clouds and sky orange)

  1. Better view at the out-lying island? Eg Pulau Ubin, Tekong etc....?

  2. as far away from bright street/building lights as possible. Nearest dark sky site is at least 100km away so next best would be the northern parks, tekong/ubin or southern islands.

  16. But we experience birds' droppings in Clementi Central open car park all the time, even in the evenings.. ET is always complaining about the birds and there are certain areas in the car park he will just refused to park..he would rather wait because apparently those areas are the bird's favorite place to drop their bombs...

  17. wah... if you are in the middle of the big wide ocean with hardly any birds, let along trees overhead for birds to congregate and drop on you... and you STILL get hit by bird droppings, can I suggest you go buy a Lottery ticket? (buy one for me too.)

  19. lol! Actually very funny.. there was one day while me and my colleagues were waiting for our company bus at jurong east, there were people everywhere waiting for their company buses.. but this bird had to land on my shoulder despite me screaming (as I felt something on my shoulder but didnt know it was just a birdie yet).. and my colleagues tried to shoo it away, it refused to go unit I had to brush it away myself. Luckily it never drop anything on me, otherwise I will have to apply urgent leave.

I forgot to buy lottery that day... ai ya!
