The Draconids meteor shower occurs every year in early October. It will peak this year between October 7-8 when the Earth passes through the debris left from the comet 21p/Giacobini-Zinner.
In 1933 and in 1946, this meteor shower produced 200-1000 mph (meteors per hour). While this shower is usually much quieter, it peaks during evening hours (rather than early morning hours unlike other meteor showers) so it's more accessible.
Everyone try and catch this! (pity about the horribly bright Singapore city lights though, making our clouds and sky orange)
Better view at the out-lying island? Eg Pulau Ubin, Tekong etc....?
ReplyDeleteas far away from bright street/building lights as possible. Nearest dark sky site is at least 100km away so next best would be the northern parks, tekong/ubin or southern islands.
ReplyDeletehey its tonight! i wanna catch some showers!
ReplyDeleteStay away from Sentosa though..it's just as bad...
ReplyDeletenot sentosa lah!! By southern islands I mean at the least St. Johns, Sisters, Kusu or even Pulau Hantu lah.
ReplyDeleteDamn, now I wish I'd bought the yacht. Going out tonight would be sooooooo perfect.
A sampan outfitted with an out-board also can.
ReplyDeletehaha but sampan very rockly lah. People will be too busy puking to look up.
ReplyDeleteSingapore waves quite gentle lah unless of course a ship passes by then it'll be rocky.
ReplyDeletein the night leh, very dangerous with sampan la...u know, there could be sharks....
ReplyDeleteor pirates!
ReplyDeletewahahaha! or 咸猪手! ;-p
ReplyDeleteor scary things that bump your boat in the night...
ReplyDeleteor birds' droppings from above...
ReplyDeleteBirds' dropping only in the day lah.....getting into the middle of a high speed chase between illegals and the PCG more likely.
ReplyDeletereally? birds dont drop in the night?
ReplyDeleteI can tell you from personal experience that is not true.
ReplyDeleteEh...the birds' droppings or the PCG chase?
ReplyDeleteBut we experience birds' droppings in Clementi Central open car park all the time, even in the evenings.. ET is always complaining about the birds and there are certain areas in the car park he will just refused to park..he would rather wait because apparently those areas are the bird's favorite place to drop their bombs...
ReplyDeletewah... if you are in the middle of the big wide ocean with hardly any birds, let along trees overhead for birds to congregate and drop on you... and you STILL get hit by bird droppings, can I suggest you go buy a Lottery ticket? (buy one for me too.)
ReplyDeleteOver flying bird with diahorrea? Btw, do birds gets diahorrea?
ReplyDeletelol! Actually very funny.. there was one day while me and my colleagues were waiting for our company bus at jurong east, there were people everywhere waiting for their company buses.. but this bird had to land on my shoulder despite me screaming (as I felt something on my shoulder but didnt know it was just a birdie yet).. and my colleagues tried to shoo it away, it refused to go unit I had to brush it away myself. Luckily it never drop anything on me, otherwise I will have to apply urgent leave.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to buy lottery that day... ai ya!
The birdie likes you lah....at least what landed on you was a birdie. A flying roach landed on me once.
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahaha
ReplyDeleteWa thats gross!!!! I hate xiao-qiang 小强!!!! eeeeeek!!
ReplyDeleteI hate them too especially flying ones....
ReplyDeletethats why mummy always said, "KM, close your mouth when you yawn."
ReplyDeleteYou had an experience before? ;-)
ReplyDeletelol!
ReplyDeleteWell I had.. and it was awful....
If I had an "experience" before, I wouldn't NEED anyone to tell me would I?
ReplyDeleteHahaha...! Just asking and making sure.
