Was it homemade or frozen packed from the supermarket?

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
1 cup glutinous rice flour
4 ounces water
Brown or white sugar to taste
Red food colouring
Fresh ginger (optional)
Preparation:
Pour the glutinous rice flour into a bowl and add water until the mixture becomes the texture of dough. Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
Divide the dough in half and add red food colouring to one half.
Pinch off pieces of the dough and roll them into small balls, dropping them into boiling water and cook them until they float.
Separately prepare boiling water and adding brown or white sugar. Fresh ginger can also be added to the soup.
Put the cooked balls into the soup and serve!
Had grandma's homemade tangyuan!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe KM! I just had dinner and rice ball at mum's place...⌒‿⌒*
ReplyDeleteWe cheated this year and bought ours from NTUC. muahahaha but then again, we're waiting for sis to come back from Oz and hold another tangyuan eating session on Thursday. Imma hoping it'll be homemade. ;)
ReplyDeleteI was kinda disappointed because mum made ones that were coated with peanuts instead of the soup kind....Btw, they were from NTUC too!
ReplyDeleteHere, where it's hot as heck most of the year, Dongzhi is really something to celebrate. ^_^
ReplyDeleteMy mum handmade the rice balls...with brown sugar in them.. there were pink ones, and white ones.. looks like cotton balls.
