  1. Hydrostone? How hard is it to carve? Anyway, when do I get to play a match against you?

  2. It's not carved, but placed in a mould to set.

  3. Hydrostone is super strong. It's 3 times harder than normal grade30 concrete.

I'm going to try and cast a second round this weekend.

Check the other photo album for the earlier casting for the 1st set

  4. Meaning they don't break? Where do you keep your numerous chest sets?

  5. They can break if you throw them hard enough onto the floor or whack them with a hammer. The little protruding bits like heads and hands would probably chip too if hit hard enough, but yup, hydrostone is pretty tough stuff.

I only have one set so far, the Lewis Chessmen set which I'm still figuring out how to paint. This second set I'm casting is for my father. He likes King Arthur and Camelot which this is.

    :) :) :)

  6. Okey, managed to cast a 2nd batch today. This should make it about 40% of the set done.

  7. can you paint well?
painting makes or breaks it..get someone good to help maybe?

  8. Actually, I'm hoping the cookie monster will help. He says he's awesome when painting miniatures.

I'll probably not paint the Lewis chessmen set but just dye them some off white color so that they look somewhat authentic like the originals done in whalebone but I agree with u on the camelot ones. Those will look great with a good paint job.

  9. Cookie monster got so cool? I thought he does errr...cooler stuff like reading books at library.

  10. sure! cookie monster can be quite cool... when he's not being square

  11. Square is cool. Besides, reading books in the library can be fun, besides sleeping in there.
