There's something magical about kid's and their lanterns during the mid-autumn festival.
Soft flickering candlelight, throwing light and shadow onto thin painted coloured paper, swinging, swaying, on its fine wire/bamboo frame, in the tiny cherubic hands of excited children, happy smiles on their lantern fire-lit faces, eyes wide in wonder as they carefully try and shepherd the tiny dancing flame in a riotous procession of dancing colours marching around the moonlit pool.
Oh I remember when I was a kid during mid-autumn festival.. somehow my colorful koi fish paper lantern got burnt... in a rattan shell chair.. The fire was burning merrily I couldn't do anything to save it.. just so shocked seeing it burnt down to ashes. *~*

ReplyDeleteSorry I missed it. Do you think we can move and float it in the middle of Lake Pontchartrain north of New Orleans? It would fit nicely with bridges in all directions, connecting nicely to the interstate system going north/south, as well as east/west. Love ya!

ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little kid, the only day when we could find and buy such lanterns was during our National Day, on the 14th of July.
ReplyDeleteOnce, I could get one during the winter, it was for the special night skiing descent. It gives little lights moving everywhere down the hill, it was magic too ! :)
I gotta find a way to convince my wife to take a real winter holiday ...
