JeeYin's First

A big thank you to everyone for making this such a great party for him. He was a little apprehensive at first but was back to his old (if you can consider 1 year as old) self, laughing and smiling especially when he saw the cake. Just didn't think he should have kicked the cake though. Got his brand new shoes splatted with cream, and yes, he finally gets to wear shoes now that he's 1 year old!

I hope everyone had fun and the food was ok. We had a lot of left over food so I was worried everyone would be too full to eat the cake. I didn't relish having to eat leftovers from a 3 kg cake for the next few weeks but thank goodness the cake was almost completely finished! I think the chocolate and lychee double layer combo was a good choice.

We had a lot of leftover party packs for the kids too. Quite a few people were down with the flu and cancelled last minute, and three families didn't turn up too. That meant we had 5 kids fewer than expected so some of the not so young kids in their 30s got party packs. haha

Was definitely good to see some people whom I haven't seen in years turn up. That was definitely a pleasant surprise.

The condo could have done with more chairs but otherwise, its not such a bad place for a party. Nice big and airy hall.

Let's meet up again soon.

MidAutumn Festival BBQ & Sohan - 18th September 2010 (+ and -)

There's something magical about kid's and their lanterns during the mid-autumn festival.

Soft flickering candlelight, throwing light and shadow onto thin painted coloured paper, swinging, swaying, on its fine wire/bamboo frame, in the tiny cherubic hands of excited children, happy smiles on their lantern fire-lit faces, eyes wide in wonder as they carefully try and shepherd the tiny dancing flame in a riotous procession of dancing colours marching around the moonlit pool.

BBQ @ Bayshore Park 2010

Hi guys, another year and another invitation for a BBQ and mooncakes at my place.  We'll have Sohan over again this year, taking a break from the dreary expanse of the Arabian desert to munch his way through kaya toasts and guzzle on local brewed kopi.

Leong Jee Yin's One Month Celebration

Thank you everyone for coming! Jee Yin slept thru most of it and despite many attempts to get him to open his eyes, he continued to snooze while people ate, talked, laughed and kids ran circles around his stroller.

I hope the food was adequate. The drinks ran out towards the end of the party probably as the weather has been very, very hot. Old friends, new friends, relatives and neighbours all came, and even my old JC teacher from 20 years ago! :D

Thank you everyone for the well wishes, angbaos and for the presents. Thank you Jos and Ur for the book on S.Rajaratnam which I shall keep wrapped for the next 12-16 years until Jee Yin is able to read it, and special thanks to Liu for the gift box of toys and clothing all the way from lovely Brittany. That was a pleasant surprise.

Party - Open-house Party @ Bayshore Park (10th-11th February 2007)

3:00pm - First guest arrives... 30 minutes earlier than expected catching baobei and I still cooking in the kitchen but was promptly excuse as he was bearing gifts and food fit for the gods

3:30 to 5:00pm - People trickle in and start munching on food. Suk brings whole family, complete with 2 kids

5:00 to 6:00pm - DaMo regales Mei with his worldly exploits while GZ snoozes blissfully in la-la-land in the library/study. Anime movie "Life of Confucius" started at DaMo's request

6:00pm - Early arrivals have mostly left. Snowybeagle arrives with snowylady and two snowypups who immediately stake their territorial claims over the sofa and balcony

7:00pm - The WARGAMERS Ur and Moose arrive. Ur came bearing gifts and bestows "Axis and Allies, the boardgame" on the unsuspecting hosts, gaining instant blessings from LJM and instant notoriety from Baobei

7:30pm - Movie 1 - "Battle of Wits" starts and GZ snoozes yet again, on the sofa this time

9:30pm - With a slightly deminished crowd, Movie 2 -"Musa" starts

10:00pm - Last guest, Lifezard arrives to help clean-up

12:00am - Ur pulls out his games and Moose and Lifezard chicken out mumbling poor excuses and beating a hasty retreat out the door. Only Ur and DaMo remain

12:30am - DaMo threatens Ur menacingly with a sword to begin his cardgame and Ur defends himself by shooting DaMo

1:00am - Cardgame "Illiad" begins. Baobei rolls her eyes retreating back to her room and dives under her blankets to sleep

3:00am - After coffee, snacks and munching on chutney, the telescope is dragged out into the balcony and planet Saturn in Opposition is caught on 360x magnification. Clear cloud bands on Saturn and its rings are seen

3:30am - DaMo, eyelids drooping/closing and yawning incessantly lurches/stumbles to the library/study, barely making it to the mat/floor before he transformed/changed into a pumpkin and locks/bolts himself in the room to sleep/snooze

4:00am - Ur begs for one last wargame and in disgust LJM obliges by trashing him in the game, trampling Ur's army with his war-elephants & phalanx while confounding his chariots with catapults in punishment for keeping him up so late... and wins the hand of Helen in the bargain

5:00am - Everyone is counting sheep and snorting air. Agitated dogs finally stop barking, babies finally stop crying, neighbours heave a great sigh of relief, and peace finally reigns again at Jade Tower

8:00am - LJM gets up to check but finds everyone still unconscious and so goes back to sleep again

10:00am - Ur and DaMo sneak out the house while everyone is still asleep
