    Lighting the land,
    Who's da man?

  7. moon-gazing...very good. hmm but have trouble with the dress code though...
so the host that evening is koi hin? then koi hin must adhere to the dress code ya? long flowing silk sleeves and skirts with jade hair pins...

umm, what's the hangup about dress code.. want us to float, get us bedsheets and will float it upwards... but make sure someone alert the neighbours so that they don't get 'pengsan'.

    ReplyDelete
  9. let's have different types of mooncakes but not too much hor..... too much mooncake can make one very sick of mooncakes afterwards.

As for the dress code.... it'll be cool won't it if we tried to make it in flowing robes.... fun or funny... who cares?

    "Fluttering silk sleeves,
    Lazy willow trees,
    Lovely Sweet Cakes!

    Emerald green waters,
    Bright Chang'er Moon,
    Good friendship makes!"

    - Poet Angry Boar getting high on kopi

    ReplyDelete
  10. ok, will be there... but no mooncake from me... will get the angry boar's meat instead.... like two years ago... plenty of angry boar meat... yes?

    ReplyDelete
  11. waaaa! AB's meat? i want very chou-da ones... haha!

Centaur & Moon: I'm sorry I can't make it on 15th Sept...will arrange to meet up again...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jos, no worries. understand your current situation, do keep well and take care of yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Haiz, ok you're invited if you promise not to stomp the ground that hard again. Deal?

    ReplyDelete
  25. ok i just stay around and watch you folks battle with your wits.

  26. Phew, for a moment I thought he was talking of my four legs... kekeke

    ReplyDelete
  27. ... and ah.... you guys do know that it's also Frenchmaid Jos' birthday right?

    ReplyDelete
  28. ah... now mooncake become birthday cake?

    ReplyDelete
  29. we'll get her 1 candle for her very own mooncake.

    ReplyDelete
  30. So is Pandan cake but that's another story. Eh Jos? *jostles Jos' elbow.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ai-yah, now Jos knows we are going to celebrate her birthday. Never mind, Jos when you see us bring out the birthday (moon)cake with a candle on top, you must give a surprise look, okay?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes I am going to bring one (moon) cake just for the birthday gal. In fact I am already eating one now.. very yummy, not too sweet, in fact its handmade.. courtesy from a company vendor.

    tasty!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Jos can't read her multiply until she goes home tonight. What say I delete all the posts related to her birthday and keep this to ourselves?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Up to you. On the other hand, if she knows we plan on celebrating then she will make a bigger commitment to turn up. I know for a fact her other friends are celebrating for her on the 22nd too.

    ReplyDelete
  35. that's true....

.... but she must be worried what I'd get for her as a present if she knew I knew...

    ReplyDelete
  36. hehehe, what are you guys up to... making her wished that she was not born on that day? tsk tsk tsk....

    ReplyDelete
  37. ... not to mention what might happen if she knew I knew that she knew too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. ... you know.... we are polite people. I just want to return her the favour....

    ReplyDelete
  39. I will be there.. hey guys, I'll prepare 20 wedding cards to give that to some of you.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Good! You know the dresscode for this event right? Must dress up in flowing period robes.

I look forward to receiving your wedding invitation.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Don't really have flowing period robes.. can I come in my lingerie? :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Can. As long as it's period lingerie.

    ReplyDelete
  43. And make sure its red. Gotta be red to be traditional.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey GZ bring the future Mrs Jow along as well will be good opp to get to know her better before the wedding.

    ReplyDelete
  45. My wife is not in Singapore at the moment. She's in Taiwan and won't be in Singapore until 28th Oct. I'll try to wear something red on that day.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Moose will be there. We will be arriving about 1.30pm to kill some demons.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  50. ehh...actually i don't really like traditional mooncakes le...

    ReplyDelete
  51. No prob, what time of mooncake you like? I'm sure we can find one you wll enjoy.

Personally I like the traditional type, no egg yolks please.

Has anyone heard from Robert Kwon? Wonder if he is back in Singapore?

Snowy and the Snowy family coming?

    ReplyDelete
  52. My favourite is Snow-Skin Champagne Truffle Mooncakes from Raffles The Plaza which I've already ordered a box for myself last week.

Egg yolks are quite nice actually.

    ReplyDelete
  53. No idea if Robert is in town but would love to invite his whole family over.

Ok, who's getting mooncakes? We'll prepare some fingerfoods but no mooncakes.

    ReplyDelete

Hurhur....are we really going to have lanterns?

    ReplyDelete
  66. ok but please remind thomas that the dress code is period costume. You guys need to buy drinks and 1 box of Snowskin mooncakes. :P

btw, I never do any work without being appropriately compensated. Its against my strict moral upbringing and principles. So please bribe me.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Yes we will have lanterns. You bringing some?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Of course must got lanterns lah, no lanterns not Mid-Autumn festival Singapore style already. Remember when we young we use to call this Lantern Festival? Remember how we use to walk around the blocks with our lanterns? Remember how we use to burn our lanter--- ok, maybe not that.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Ok I see if I can get lanterns....ermm.....AB, I assume your house has fire extinguisher right? I mean, of course you can trust me....but you know who we can't trust....

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  73. hmm.....maybe not just mascara, you need eyelash extension....

    ReplyDelete
  74. ok, will get more beauty tips for you on Sat.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Just get those cheap foldable paper ones. Those are actually the nicest IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  93. i carry mirror every single day. who needs a mirror?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Ok, that will work too but Moon must remember to be extra radiant that night in order to see the reflection clearly. Of course, being the 15th day of the 8th month I am sure she will be.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Ah, Moon is always equipped with the essentials for Moon-gazing, I should have known.

    ReplyDelete
  96. oh, i thought it was the frenchmaid who needs a mirror..

    ReplyDelete

  100. Umm, remember must be tin and not cardboard or even wooden!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hey, if there is a wooden mooncake box I will take it.

    ReplyDelete
  102. most of the mooncakes come in cardboard now... so far i only see bangawan solo still package with tin boxes..

i have one cardboard box, very pretty and practical, shape like two chest of drawers, and the knots on the drawers are cheongsam knots... pretty. The paper quality is better than ikea's cardboard boxes.. i put on my writing desk to store my watches..

    ReplyDelete
  103. Hope you guys had fun.

I'm still amazed at how the guys hogged the food and stuffed themselves without any consideration to the girls. Luckily I still had a pot of redbean soup not brought out yet. I don't think any of the girls (or me included) even got a chance to eat any of the Yakitori or sushi. If baobei hadn't come and tell me and I hadn't said anything, I doubt anything would have been left. Sigh. I hate to say this but.... Singaporean guys.... sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  104. hehehe, like you finally did realize that we girls were sitting at the sidelines, watching the nice young men wolfing down the food. We felt it would be such a sin to separate the guys from their food. However, we love the pot of redbean soup and the tangyuan and especially the hospitality of your mum... her homemade food were something to die for... you lucky person, fancy having the pleasure of eating her food for so many years... sigh! I will certainly be dreaming of her 'Siu kow" and "Niang Tu Fu"

    ReplyDelete
  105. yes the red bean soup and tangyuan were absolutely delicious!

hmmm the siu kow and niang dou fu were simply good... actually i felt like da-pau some home.. if i was at my mum's home, i would definitely ask for some.
    ;-P

and... guess what, i actually like the card game! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  106. umm, have now a set, we could always have fun... yes?

    ReplyDelete
  107. yes indeed... i have not master the complete rules of the game yet, but hey, i am keen to learn.

lets plan a saturday after you return from your HK trip, at my place.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Good, good... I have more games to inflict upon you ladies... heh, heh, heh.

    ReplyDelete
  109. hey.. s-l-o-w-l-y.... let me master that game first - Cel** what? sorry ;-p

    ReplyDelete
  110. Well yes they were quite rudely hogging the entire table and all the food. I had my hands full and didn't notice it until Waikit came in to complain or I would have said something earlier.

My mom was quite taken back too when her guests (my sister's in-laws) came up and found that they didn't even move to offer their seats to the older folk but just kept on sitting and chatting oblivious to others' needs.

I certainly hope this is not what our culture has become, especially from people who profess to love Chinese culture.

tsk tsk tsk... Singaporeans! Where are you manners?

I completely forgot about your AB-meat or I would have brought that out as well. Sorry. Too many things in the kitchen. Forgot even to make tea. Regina, next time remind me.

Ok, ranting done. I'm just going to have to be more selective in my invitations next time. I can't stand rude/inconsiderate people.

Next point on the agenda. You are all most welcome to dinner. Mom will definitely invite you guys back for more. You can bet on it. She absolutely enjoys people enjoying her food and you'll not even be able to back out of it now.

    ReplyDelete
  111. hehehe, just enjoy the AB meat ok? tis fine to forget, after all we have so much food on the table, and yes, I am accepting the invitation to eat! yeah! now I have another place for home cooked food!!! kekeke, you won't get rid of me too easily after falling in love with your mum's cooking... :-)

    ReplyDelete
  112. hmm I hope you pals like the moon cakes too... I tried one pc and thought it was good..

    ReplyDelete
  113. Yup, love the mooncakes, thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yes thank you for the mooncakes! I particularly enjoyed the double yoke.

Thanks too to Elisha who also brought mooncakes. Only problem.... baobei complained no one left any for her the next morning.............

    ReplyDelete
  115. phew! i was getting a bit worried when there was no feedback on the moon-cakes...

no more moon-cakes for baobei? oh dear.. i only took one small slice......

    ReplyDelete
  116. umm, tell baobei, I have a box on hand, and if she is interested, you come and collect for her!

    ReplyDelete
  117. lol. No there is still one more mooncake from moon's box. Just no more from Elisha's box. lol. Baobei just being greedy want to try all.

She apologises for her absence during the gathering. She has an exam on Tuesday and was studying.

    ReplyDelete
  118. lol. I'm more interested in your guzheng. :P

    ReplyDelete
  119. Yours were the only Moon cakes I took, the no yolk one. :-) Very nice. I notice these days the quality of Moon cakes on the market varies, some are good, some can be quite bad.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I just hope everyone had fun and had enough food to eat. Without baobei to help, I of course got labeled a Frenchmaid in the kitchen AGAIN by Jos who walked specifically into the kitchen to tell me that AGAIN, and I was a little rushed to get everything out, and not to mention my parent's little party downstairs, and I didn't even have time to chat with or gaze at Moon. :P

The lanterns were fun weren't they? Thank you Jos for bringing the extra lanterns.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Oh No! We forgot to recite poetry in praise of the Moon!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Yup, that would be a good thought about my guzheng, just the instrument is out of tune and out of string. I will get it re-done before you have a look at it....

    ReplyDelete
  123. ... and now worries about Baobei, she need the time to study, you make sure you get her Brand's essence of Chicken to help her concentrate on her studies...ok?

    ReplyDelete
  124. Still can, still can. Tomorrow is actual Moon-day.

"Moonlight, moonbright... oh how I love the moon tonight.
Her beauty reigns supreme... her aura such a delight!"

    ReplyDelete
  125. She is also not well. I need to get her cough syrup too. She already has a ready supply of Brands Bird's Nest that she takes regularly.

    ReplyDelete
  126. aiyah Essence of Chicken and Bird's Nest different use lah... One give energy, the other give beauty!

    ReplyDelete
  127. You tune it and then you practice ok? Because once I get my hands on it, I'll be giving myself a crash course on it and I'll want to jam with you. Two guzhengs should sound pretty nice.... now if I can just find someone to play my Erhu....

    ReplyDelete
  128. oh... how I know, I got so much energy and so much beauty I don't need either mah... :P ok, ok going to buy Chicken Essence...

    ReplyDelete
  129. yah... once I get someone who could get my guzheng re-stringed and tuned. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  130. Or pass to me. I'll get it restrung. I also need to restring my violin. Francois coming....

    ReplyDelete
  131. oh no, you with zee erhu and now zee violin? ok, I will set on date and time then let you know.

    ReplyDelete
  132. ok. Then maybe we can jam together no? Will invite a few people over for jamming and food. No rude people next time I hope.

    ReplyDelete
  133. hehehe.... I don't mind that... it would be fun... what about rude people?

    ReplyDelete
  134. well........ didn't you read my ranting about people who hog tables and food forgetting the "ladies first" rule?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Just use Multiply's PM feature for more selective invitation. There is a saved list function so you dont have to retype IDs everytime.

    ReplyDelete
  136. or restricted.. meaning choose individual option..

    ReplyDelete
  137. Hmm...S'porean guys...what can I say? Feel bad that I didn't contribute anything for that night...:-( sowie....will get something the next time we have a gathering like that. And a big thank you for all the yum yum provided.
Give Baobei my regards and wish her good luck for her exams! Hope she gets well soon.

    ReplyDelete
  138. no worries, Deb, tis fine with me, and us I believe... :-) the next meal on you. hehehe.

    ReplyDelete
  139. lol yes I know... S'porean guys.... haiz! lol :P

No worries Debbie about the food. I didn't ask you to bring anything so you needed have brought anything. Just hope you had fun.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  145. in fact, it's infectious....hehehe " Hi Moon ! "

    ReplyDelete
  146. " Beautiful and bright and Cheerful Moon " ????

    ReplyDelete
  147. umm, Moon is gonna sneeze again soon!

    ReplyDelete
  148. "Mooooooooon sooooo bright!
    Smileeeeeeeeeee soooo wide!

    See the Mooooooon so height!
    Please cloud don't hide!"

    - AB the terrible aspiring poet

    ReplyDelete
  149. no wonder i have giddy and fainting spells..... must consider change name already...

    ReplyDelete
  150. How about changing name to Luna?

    "Ah la luna la luna
The night that we fell under the spell of the moon
    Ah la luna la luna
The light that will being me back to you
    The light of la luna"

    ReplyDelete
  151. Moon must be feeling so high up there... apparently, drunk!

    ReplyDelete
  152. hmm Luna sounds like a good name.. can consider, can consider..
